127 Hours scribe may write Hunger Games sequel Catching Fire

With the excitement cranked up to 11 on the wet-o-meter this week, what with the trailer premiering and all, “Hunger Games” fans are – rather appropriately – keen to chew on anything else news-wise when it comes to cinema’s next big success story. So here’s a tidbit to stop the tummy rumbles.

According to Deadline, Lionsgate is courting “127 Hours” and “Slumdog Millionaire” scribe Simon Beaufoy to write the sequel, “Catching Fire”.

Finke and the troops say that Gary Ross, who will return as director, originally planned on writing the next one with author Suzanne Collins but the post-production schedule on “The Hunger Games”, due March, has punctured his time.
