Variety has retracted the news that Brad Pitt will produce and possibly star in a remake of "The Birdman from Alcatraz". Friday they reported that Warner Bros. Pictures had made a deal with Vanity Fair writer-turned-scribe Ned Zeman to write the script for "The Madman of Alcatraz". The trade mentioned Brad Pitt would produce the project, with an eye to star in the drama based on the true story of the psychiatrist who treated Robert Stroud, Alcatraz’s notorious Birdman.
