According to the IMDB, it’s official, Renee Zellweger has agreed to reprise her role in a sequel to "Bridget Jones’s Diary" – even if it means she has to put on weight again. Colin Firth apparently talked her into it."I’m ready, willing and able. Bridget’s a character I really identify with. I’ll put the weight back on with pleasure." And on Firth’s influence, she adds, "To work with Colin again would be fantastic." Thankfully, according to writer Andrew Davies, she won’t have to put on much weight. "The plot involves her doing time in a Thai jail, which means she actually has to lose weight."
