I got confirmation this morning that Dennis Hopper is indeed going to star in "The Crow : Wicked Prayer". How unfortunate I hadn’t heard about the latest casting tidbit though – might have got that yay or nayed too. None other than "Angel", David Boreanaz, is going to play the villain in the film.
Ok sounds possible, he’s got some time-off coming up [before his show is "hopefully" renewed] and hasn’t been too shy about wanting to chase a Superhero movie-type role. And if the "Supes" suit don’t fit [he tested], why not try another. Ok, so it’s something far from the money-spinner "Superman" will be, but something still with a "name". It’s nice to see
Miramax/Dimension actually still considering the actor. He did after all, jump ship from "Below" last year in favour of doing a dud romantic comedy with Monica Potter. But I’m sure even David knows now that that was a bad, bad decision. And they’re clearly not hiring him because of his love for the series. He told TV Guide [who announced the news that he’d been cast] "I didn’t even know there was a third [Crow movie]".
The Hollywood Reporter consequently confirms the above casting, as well as saying Emmanuelle Chriqui, Danny Trejo, Marcus Chong, Tito Ortiz and Tara Reid round out the cast. Set in the Southwest, "Prayer" tells the story of ex-con Jimmy Cuervo (Furlong) and his girlfriend, Lily (Chriqui), who are murdered by Luc Crash (Boreanaz) and his satanic gang Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse as part of a ritual for Crash to become an immortal demon. The rest of the gang is played by Chong, Ortiz and Reid, with Reid playing Crash’s evil love interest. Hopper plays El Nino who marries Crash and Lola
