Clints Bits – 5/5

All those news items simpy left dangling, if you will. Ok folks, going to try something new here. Instead of dedicating a good 100 words or so to a news item that could simply be summed up by saying ‘he/she is doing this’ or ‘so and so have quit this film’ – we’re going to kick off a new section of the daily news regiment in these ‘Clint’s Bits’ section – simply stating just that. It’s a good way to cover as many miniscule titbits as possible. As per usual, your news, rumours, scoops and the like are much appreciated.

  • John and Joan Cusack have bothed bowed out of the movie, "The Stepford Wives", citing family reasons.

  • "The West Wing" creator Aaron Sorkin and executive producer Thomas Schlamme have announced that they are leaving the ratings-troubled show at the end of the season

  • Maggie Gyllenhaal is in negotiations to join the cast of Warner Bros’ "Criminal", starring John C. Reilly and Diego Luna. The film centers on two con-artists pulling off a scam involving forgery of a set of valuable stamps.

  • Restrain yourself horror fans. The official poster for "Freddy vs Jason" has just gone up over at the Official Site.

  • "X2: X-Men United" claws its way to No. 1 this weekend by grossing approximately $85.9 million in domestic boxoffice receipts since opening on Friday, says The Hollywood Reporter

  • The Monkey Peaches website is reporting that a prequel and sequel to "Infernal Affairs" is in the works. New to the series, in terms of cast, are Leon Lai, Lau Kar-ling, Francis Ng and Hu Jun and Yu Chiu.

  • Coming Soon is reporting that Screenwriter Shane Black ["The Long Kiss Goodnight"] will direct "You’ll Never Die in This Town Again", based on his own script about an unlikely hero and his gay detective partner.

  • The Z Review is reporting a rumour that "Austin Powers 4" might have already started filming. "There is a sign outside a restaurant that I think was called Discovery Cove in the Mall of America that said it was closed because it was going to be used for filming of Austin Powers 4".

  • The one-sheeter for the upcoming "Terminator 3 : Rise of the Machines" is up at The Arnold Fans. Doesn’t look too bad actually.

  • Good friend, Erika Eleniak, has zipped off to the middle of nowhere to film a new horror flick which she describes as "Dracula 3000 : Infinite Darkness". A notable rap-star is rumoured to be her co-star.

  • The Courier has posted a scene description for the upcoming "Salems Lot" involving a rain-machine, Rob Lowe and Donald Sutherland. Seems the locals are loving having the big time [that’s if the idea of your ‘big time’ are headliners from some of the finest DTV releases out there] stars in their neighbourhood.

  • "Dahmer" star Jeremy Renner has been cast in the title role of the indie feature "Neo Ned," with Gabrielle Union as the female lead
