Some odds and ends to get you through the weekend, including new additions to Scorsese’s Howard Hughes biopic, A Trailer for the new Kate Hudson flick, another comic book character hitting the big screen, which model might be joining “Die Hard 4” and tickets up for grabs to the first Melbourne screening of the sensational “Identity”.
Frank Darabont’s Darkwoods Productions has optioned comic book character “Capt. Sternn”, who featured in the film “Heavy Metal” as well as Heavy Metal magazines.

The Z Review reports that the Jean Claude Van Damme film “After Death” will be shot on location in Montreal, Canada in Early August, and will premiere in Cannes next year. Van Damme will then start shooting “Cover Play”.
According to Fangoria, the DVD/video release of “Beyond Re-Animator” has been pushed back from October 14 to December 30.
E Online has a bit on the next season of “The Practice”. Says Kristin, “An insider tells me McDermott returns about six weeks into the season for four of five episodes, and when he does, he’s working elsewhere and does the unthinkable–goes against his old firm.”.
The Z Review reports that Kelly Brook has been mentioned as a possible Lucy McClane for “Die Hard 4”. Oh well, better than Brittney…

Vincent Laresca, Justin Shilton and Brent Spiner have been added to the cast of “The Aviator”, says The Hollywood Reporter. Laresca is playing Jorge, Howard Hughes’ protector and right-hand man. Shilton is playing a young test pilot, while Spiner is playing Robert Gross, the president of aircraft company Lockheed.
According to Aint it Cool, The third “24” season will pick up three years after the second, at which point Kim Bauer will be in CTU’s employ, like Dad Jack.
The thought-D.O.A “Old Soldiers” – which was going to star Christian Slater – looks like being made after all. Val Kilmer will star in the film, set to lens in September.
Rumours are circulating that Gary Daniels is attached to star in Bond-spoof “Semper Occultus”. Not true, Daniels tells Moviehole this afternoon, he hasn’t even heard of the project.
SNL’s Jimmy Fallon has won a role in the English language remake of “Taxi”, co-starring opposite Queen Latifah, reports The Hollywood Reporter. Luc Besson, who produced the original, is producing the redo about a speedy cab driver (Latifah) who teams with an eager young cop (Fallon) to solve a series of bank robberies.
Oded Fehr and Sienna Guillory have joined the cast of Screen Gems and Constantin Films’ "Resident Evil: Apocalypse" for director Alexander Witt, says The Hollywood Reporter.
