Leaving “Saturday Night Live” when he did seems to have paid off big time for Will Ferrell. Hot on the heels of covetable gigs “Starsky and Hutch” and “Action News”, comes word he’s set to play Maxwell Smart in a feature film version of the TV series “Get Smart” for Warner-Bros. According to Variety, Warners-based producer Andrew Lazar has been working to get the film on its feet for several years, at one time Jim Carrey was attached. However, Ferrell’s attachment means starting from scratch and the project is out to writers. The original series, starring Don Adams in the title role, ran from 1965-1970, first on NBC and later on CBS.
