Clints Bits – 25/8

Hope everyone had a great weekend. Just chatted to Bruce Campbell, he of “Evil Dead” and subject of the latest rumour which apparently involves pitting Freddy and Jason against Ash, his character from the “Dead” trilogy. In a round about way, Campbell fundamentally says it’s about as likely to happen as Dave Prowse returning to the Vader costume. Kids, it’s a no-go. But, fan boys can always keep wishing. The more you wish, the more it may come true. Look at “Freddy vs. Jason”.

  • Good news for Disney, with “Finding Nemo” bypassing “The Lion King” last week as the highest grossing animated film ever.

  • Jessica Lange will star in an adaptation of Colette’s classic Gallic novel “Cheri” about a magnificent and talented femme d’un certain age in pre-WWI Paris, who has a lengthy love affair with the young son of a wealthy courtesan.

  • Director Baz Luhrmann has hired veteran British playwright David Hare (Oscar-nominated for “The Hours”) to write the script for “Alexander the Great”.

  • According to Dark Horizons, WOKQ 97.5 FM in New Hampshire indicates the new script for “Catwoman” takes a “Mask of Zorro” routine with Michelle Pfieffer as Selena Kyle mentoring a young Halle Berry

  • Jerry Seinfeld will appear in the fourth season finale of TV’s “Curb Your Enthusiasm”, reports TV Guide.

  • F.Gary Gray [“The Negotiator”] is up for Directing Duties on the “Get Shorty” sequel, “Be Cool”, starring John Travolta.

  • According to The Z Review, Director Guy Ritchie will no longer be making the film “Revolver”, and instead will do a film called “Six Shooters”, which takes place in the last days of the Civil War.

  • David Sporn will direct “Tamara”, about an unpopular high-school girl who dies as the result of a nasty prank, only to come back from the grave as a supernatural seductress with telepathic powers to wreak revenge.

  • Don’t get too excited about all the “Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash” rumours just yet. Bruce Campbell’s not exactly booking a hotel to tie in with the start of production. We heard from Bruce today who shunned the rumours.

  • Tilda Swinton has joined the cast of “Constantine”. She’ll play a rogue agent named Gabriel in the Keanu Reeves starrer.

  • Jason Scott Lee and Jay Hernandez will star in the historical epic “The Nomad”, an 18th century-set story of a boy who is destined to one day unite the three warring tribes of the country.
