According to Variety, ‘the apparent nastiest autograph supplier in the world’ Cameron Diaz and Fox 2000 are teaming up for “W.A.S.P.S”, a WWII-set drama about the first female pilots recruited by the military in 1942. Jan Eliasberg is set to rewrite the script and Diaz is attached to star. Mimi Rogers, who hopes to play Jackie Cochran (who started the program) in the film, said the pilots were trained in Sweetwater, Texas, and 39 of them perished while flying missions around the country. Fox 2000 apparently bought the rights to the film a few years back, it’s only now getting made. Eliasberg only just set the pitch “New York Christmas Movie” at Revolution and her script “Heart of the Atom” is going ahead with Viggo Mortensen and Connie Nielsen attached to star.
