Video Ezy Entertainment Awards : Winners

Winners of this year’s Video Ezy Entertainment Awards were announced at an inaugural star-studded ceremony held at the NIDA Parade Theatre this evening.

The event kicked off with a red carpet cocktail party attended by the who’s who of the Home Entertainment Industry including presenters Bill “Mr Movies” Collins, Rebekah Elmaloglou, ‘At the Movies’ hosts Margaret Pomeranz and David Stratton, Fenella Kernebone and Marc Fennell of “The Movie Show”, and FHM model Rozz Switzer.

The Awards, aimed at recognising movies that people loved watching at home in 2004, also raised $20,000 for the Starlight Children’s Foundation. The much needed funds will go towards making life brighter for seriously ill children around Australia.

“Since the inception of the Video Ezy Entertainment Awards, we have had hundreds of thousands of public votes, clearly demonstrating how much Aussies love their movies, and love coming to their local Video Ezy store for the variety, fun and value we provide.”

“We are extremely pleased with tonight’s result and are proud to be donating to the Starlight Children’s Foundation, whom we have had a longstanding relationship with,” said Steve Johnston, CEO, Video Ezy.

Louise Baxter, National Strategy & Business Manager, Starlight Children’s Foundation said:

“The funds we received from Video Ezy this evening will go towards granting the wishes of some of the many seriously ill children who are waiting to have a little magic in their lives. We are very grateful to Video Ezy, and look forward to a continued association in future.”

Hosted by comedians Scared Weird Little Guys, the night was kept upbeat with presenters asked to bestow winners of each of the 10 categories with an award. Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King dominated the night, winning five of the 10 categories including Best Picture 2004.

Following the Award ceremony, attendees were treated to an unforgettable after party, with a surprise guest performance by songstress Christine Anu, accompanied by piano men Howl at the Moon.
