007 director to helm “Goal 3″?
I really liked “Goal”, I thought Danny Canon did an amazing job with that, and look forward to seeing how the other two chapters turn out. Unfortunately, it seems it didn’t do much in the states, so everyone’s piece of the pie just got a lil’ bit smaller.
Whatever the case, seems Canon won’t be doing an Uncle George and staying put for the trilogy – and yes, despite the poor returns in the U.S, they’re still doing the two sequels – he’s offloading the directing duties to another. The next film, “Goal 2” was helmed by Jaume Collet-Serra, and according to Variety, “The World is Not Enough” director Michael Apted might be the man to helm “Goal 3”.
Apted will be well and truly all soccer-ed out by the time it does go before the cameras though – he’s currently shooting a documentary about the impact of the sport around the world. But all the more better, he’ll be well and truly rehearsed on the game by the time he takes Santiago to the world cup.
Apted is currently in pre-production on the horror thriller “Black Autumn”, and recently shot “Amazing Grace” with Ioan Gruffudd and Albert Finney, a dramatic thriller about an idealist who manoeuvres his way through Parliament in 18th century England, endeavouring to end slavery in the empire.
