Movie Network’s Greenlight officially open

This competition gives you the chance to make your dream, a reality.

MOVIE EXTRA’s Project Greenlight, the television series that sees emerging filmmakers compete for a $1million dollar production budget, is now officially open.

If you’ve been working on a screenplay, or have one sitting at the bottom of your wardrobe, and wondered how you were ever going to see it up on the big screen, then wonder no more.

This competition gives you the chance to make your dream, a reality.

From tomorrow, you can submit your feature film scripts through the MOVIE EXTRA website

This is where your filmmaking journey begins as your peers review your script and decide whether or not you’re Top 100 material.

Through a series of knock-out rounds you could find yourself one of the Top 16 contestants at the MOVIE EXTRA Green Carpet Event where the 8 finalists will be announced. This is where the real challenge commences.

From here you will be asked to prove your “movie-making” prowess by making short films – under tight deadlines all whilst you continue to work on your feature film script. Viewers and judges will then assess your ability to handle high-pressure on-set situations and see each of the completed short films.

The winner will receive a $1million production budget to produce their feature film with a guaranteed theatrical release.

If you’re not ready to enter this year’s competition you can still become part of the series by registering at as a Project Greenlight member, where you’ll have the opportunity to exchange comments and ideas with other Project Greenlight film buffs.

Last year’s winner, Morgan O’Neill will soon be premiering his Project Greenlight movie SOLO at the Sydney Film Festival on June 10th.

Starring Colin Friels and Vince Colosimo, SOLO will then be screened Australia wide through DENDY Cinemas from July 6th.

You could be next!

Closing date for Project Greenlight is 7th July 2006.
