Even with their endless amount of finance, star power and big name talent in front of & behind the camera, the film version of “Hulk” would still be no match for the now rather-ancient TV series. Why? Easy. With a lack of money, a lack of star power, and a special effects budget that wouldn’t even feed a family of four at Wendy’s, “Incredible Hulk” had to rely on it’s writers to sustain the audience’s interest. And they did. With the show – based on the popular Marvel comic of the same name, but slightly tweaked (for instance, Bruce Banner was named David Banner, here) – the creators took a meaty, captivating series like “The Fugitive” and moulded it to fit the template of the comic. It works a treat, and to this day – the pilot especially – it still plays very, very well. Extras include a commentary (heard on the previous “Hulk” release), and an episode from the season 2 set.
