“Rush Hour” star opening up to the idea
Considering Chris Tucker told us a couple of weeks back he wouldn’t be interested in appearing in the next “Friday” sequel with Ice Cube – reprising his role as Smokey from the original – this report at MTV is rather intriguing. Was he bullshitting? Is he staging the uninterested pose in an attempt to score $20 million? Is he holding out for a spin-off, instead?
Tucker, who has no immediate plans to make another movie at the moment, tells the site that he might consider it – based on the script.
“I would love to, but I don’t know if I’ll be able to do it,” he said. “But come with a great script and I’ll consider it. We’ll see.”
Tucker told both Moviehole and MTV that he feels he’s kind of moved on from that character and wonders whether they’d be able to capture the same kind of magic they did first-time round – for two reasons, the first was shot quickly and cheaply, and secondly, because the series has been ruined by too many lacklustre sequels.
