Sam Jackson & Bernie Mac are Blues Brothers?!

In a new Dimension comedy about soul singers

Further proof that huge stars will jump on not-so-huge movies when the strike cloud moves comes closing in, Samuel L.Jackson has decided to star in a two-hander with…. Bernie Mac!

Jackson, last seen in “1408”, apparently likes taking up roles that challenge him (as most actors – bar Carrot Top – do) and this one’s going to working him, that’s for sure : in it, he’ll sing and dance!

Called “Soul Men”, Variety says it’ll see Jackson and Mac play two former backup soul singers who are part of a famed group. They haven’t spoken to each other in 20 years but reluctantly agree to travel together for a tribute performance in honor of their recently deceased band leader.

There’s no director yet but Dimension hopes to land within the next two weeks. Robert Ramsey and Matthew Stone, the writing team behind “Intolerable Cruelty,” “Life” and “Man of the House.” wrote the script.

Jackson will go directly into “Men” after he completes shooting on the superhero adventure “The Spirit”.
