Cast additions for the former, film plans for the latter
The hardest working man at the hole – next to Clint, of course, who sweats blood and greenbacks for this thing day in day out; ain’t he crazy? – back to update you on what’s worthy of news item space.
Well firstly, Michael Gordon has been tapped to bring the online game “EverQuest” to life.
The Columbia pic is being championed by Marvel magnate Avi Arad.
Variety says the cinemavized version of the massively popular multiplayer game has been in development for several years, but Gordon is the first scribe to take a crack at the material.
In the game, players create a character they use to explore the world of Norrath, where they interact with other players or fight off creatures while going on quests for treasure.
Accoring to the trade Sony has made a packet out of the online game mainly because users have to “pay” to play.
And did you hear there’s a couple more additions to “The Spirit”? Paz Vega (“Spanglish”) and Jaime King (“Sin City”) have jumped aboard it, according to Variety.
For those who’ve never read the graphic novel, the action-adventure centers on a rookie cop who returns from the dead to fight crime from the shadows.
Vega will play the knife-wielding Plaster of Paris, and King will portray Lorelei, a phantom siren.
The duo joins Scarlett Johansson, Eva Mendes, Samuel L. Jackson, Gabriel Macht, Sarah Paulson, Dan Lauria, Stana Katic, Johnny Simmons and Louis Lombardi. Principal photography begins today in New Mexico.
