“Home Alone” helmer Chris Columbus is set to direct “Ripley’s Believe it or Not!”, a biopic on newspaper-columnist explorer Robert Ripley, that at one time Tim Burton was set to direct (before it fell apart just months shy off it’s start date).

Jim Carrey, who had been attached to Burton’s version, is still attached to star.

Burton’s version apparently featured a storyline set in China. Though Columbus has dropped that element, Carrey and Paramount sparked to his ideas.
