: Darth Maul with Mechanical Legs Premium Format Figure

National Secuity [Blu-Ray]

Caffeinated Clint November 11, 2008 Blu-Ray

By Drew Turney

Martin Lawrence repeats oft-trod territory (again), in another cop/buddy action comedy and mostly a cheap ‘’Bad Boys” clone. As he cashes in on his trademark shtick, you hope for comic redemption from Steve Zahn, who’s more than proven his comedy chops, but who disappoints almost as much with an indistinct and weak second fiddle to Lawrence’s idiocy.

A former cop and an opportunistic security guard (with a chip on his shoulder about being black – rendering much of his humour overtly racist to an unfunny degree) find themselves partners in a generic action movie crime mystery, have to work together and inevitably end up friends.

A handful of original gags, but little else.

Blu-Ray Details and Extras

Fairly average film, but ya know what? It seems to play a bit better on Blu-Ray – and that’s probably because everything plays better on Blu-Ray, right!? The sound (TrueHD 5.1) is immerse and packs a real punch, and the 1.85:1 transfer is pretty much grain free…. And bursting with colour.

Extras-wise, there’s nothing much different between this and the previous DVD release – commentary and so on – but still, there are extras and that’s something you can’t say about all Blu-Ray releases (the one that annoys me the most is ‘’Lethal Weapon” – such a slack release, right!?).
