“Friday the 13th” and “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” director Marcus Nispel tells Moviehole he’s looking to do an original project next up.
“There’s a movie I’m interested in that I helped inspire and I haven’t seen a great movie about cloning. It’s called Immaculate Conception”, he explains. ”A girl gets pregnant, doesn’t know why, feels targeted. You think it goes like a Rosemary’s Baby. It’s not a horror movie though. We find out halfway through that she’s part of an experiment, a splinter group of the church found a rusty old nail on the hills of Golgotha. The DNA they harvested they believe is to be of Jesus Christ. So more horror happened in the name of Christ than in the name of Satan but again it’s not a horror movie. It’s something like a Marathon Man or a Coma.”
Nispel, a former music-video director, has also got a movie called “Pod” coming up.
‘Pod is dealing with a huge fascination of mine. How do you know about Pod? Very good. You know what? Pod, actually three days ago called the writer and says, “Do you think Pod would be a good title?” So you work fast. It’s my endless fascination about the seven sublevels under Manhattan. Manhattan is deeper than it’s high and when they dig the deepest, they find something that should never be unearthed.”
