– Richard Donner tells Aint it Cool News that Mel Gibson turned down “Lethal Weapon 5″ mainly because Donner hadn’t been asked back. The filmmaker says if chose to do another sequel, he may be able to get Mel to do it. ”Now, do I think one could be done? Without a second’s hesitation. I have a phenomenal, wonderful story with Channing Gibson who wrote the fourth one. He’s a wonderful writer, and he came up with this truly great story. – Dorothy Bridges, actress and mother of actors Beau and Jeff Bridges, died Feb. 16 in Los Angeles. She was 93. Bridges was married to actor Lloyd Bridges for 60 years until his death in 1998.

– Stephen Gaghan has been tapped to pen the adaptation of “Dead Spy Running,” an espionage novel to which McG is attached to direct for Warner Bros. Based on a book by British author Jon Stock, the film is meant to be the first in a trilogy and aims to reinvent the spy genre by telling the origin story of a newly trained spy in a tone that mixes the grittiness of “The Bourne Identity” with the wittiness of John Le Carre’s oeuvre.

– The latest ”Grey’s Anatomy” rumor making the rounds has Shonda Rhimes mulling a bait and switch that would find terminally ill Izzie living and George dying, says Michael Ausiello.
