The Coen Bros’ are saddling up for a western – and not just any western, the John Wayne-classic “True Grit”!
The Oscar Winning duo will direct a remake of the legendary western, though Variety reports their take will be closer to Charles Portis’ book than the 1969 pic (yes, of course).
Portis’ novel is about a 14-year-old girl who, along with an aging U.S. marshal and another lawman, tracks her father’s killer in hostile Indian territory.
But while the original film was a showcase for Wayne, the Coens’ version will tell the tale from the girl’s p.o.v.
Paramount, who distributed the original “True Grit”, will also send out the Coen’s film in cans.
Variety has the story…
