The green leaves shake. A glass of water rattles. A worn vessel crashes onto the shore. Just as our captain sets foot on the golden sand… a winged dinosaur swoops in and snatches his mustached phizog.
Um, no, “Jurassic Park 4†hasn’t been announced (according to producer Frank Marhsall, it’s as dead as disco) and Universal’s not filming a new attraction for the backlot.
the prehistoric characters that featured so heavily in Steven Spielberg’s hit trilogy have got work elsewhere it seems.
Production begins next week on a remake of “The Land that Time Forgotâ€, based on the classic book by Edgar Rice Burroughs, later remade into a 1975 film. Actor C.Thomas Howell will be behind the camera directing from a script by Darren Dalton (“Scanner Copâ€).
The flick stars Howell (“The Hitcherâ€, “Gettysburgâ€), Christopher Showerman (“George of the Jungle 2â€, “Commander and Chiefâ€), and Timothy Bottoms, who coincidentally was a star of the recent “Land of the Lost†TV series which aired from 1991-1992. Other cast expected to be announced shortly.
In the original film, a German U-boat sinks a British ship and takes the survivors on board. After it takes a wrong turn, the submarine takes them to the unknown land of Caprona, where they find dinosaurs and Neanderthal. The new film, expected to premiere on DVD, is said to be treading similar territory.
See people get eaten by dinosaurs later this year.
