Caught up with the always amiable J.J Abrams over the weekend here in L.A to speak about – of course – “Star Trekâ€. Abrams, ever so modest, says he never expects to do a sequel to anything he does – including this, but if the audience does like his Trek reboot, he’d be glad to return to the Enterprise.
Having said that, there’s no script, not even a bunch of notes on a piece of crumbled-up paper anywhere about the sequel.
“There’s no outline. There’s no script. There’s nothing. We’re fishing for ideasâ€, says Abrams.
“Obviously, it was a dream to work with these guys and the whole cast and crew, and it would be incredible fun to get to do it again. It is also insanely presumptuous to assume that it will work when it’s out there, that people will like it, and that there will be a need for another one. If there is, the good news is that there’s a deal for the writers and a deal for the actors. It’s in placeâ€.
