TV Renewals & Pick-Ups (Cont-)

Following on from our first article, published last week…

Belts are tightening at most of the TV networks this year, and as a consequence they have to a) lose more shows than usual and b) drastically cut the budgets of those they’ve decided to hang onto. Here’s the latest update from renewal and rejection land…

Samantha Who – Gone. There’s seven episodes in the can that may or may not screen on ABC later in the year.

Law & Order – Not surprisingly, NBC has renewed the long-running serial for – a near record-breaking (“Bonanza” run just as long) – 20th season.

Human Target – FOX have unveiled the Fall line-up. The comic-book inspired “Target”, featuring Jackie Earle Haley, will premiere Jan. 17 (followed by the eighth season of “24”).

Miami Trauma – Despite rumours it was D.O.A, Jerry Bruckheimer’s new “Cold Case” clone has officially been picked up by CBS.

Inside the Box – ABC have passed (for the moment; its creator will tinker away on it for a little longer) on Shondra Rhimes’ new show. Said to have promise – just not as much as “Grey’s”.

Vampire Diaries – The CW have yet to officially greenlight the new vampire series from Kevin Williamson.

Terminator : The Sarah Connor Chronicles – Officially cancelled. Sad indeed – the show was starting to show real promise. Series creator Josh Friedman acknowledged the cancellation, and said his goodbyes to everyone involved in the show, in a note at Fox.com.
