Asteroids at a theatre near you!

Asteroids at a theatre near you!

The eternally-busy Lorenzo di Bonaventura (“Transformers”, “G.I Joe”) will bring vintage Atari videogame “Asteroids” to the big screen. Universal will bankroll.

Atari launched “Asteroids” in 1979, and the 2D game became one of the most widely known titles as the videogame biz blossomed in the decade that followed.

Matt Lopez (“Bedtime Stories”) has been hired to pen the script for the game cum film.

I believe I’ve actually got my old ‘Asteroids’ game (the mobile version, not the one you’d play in the pub as a kid) somewhere at my Dad’s place still. Must dig it up. Could be worth something on ebay after this thing comes out.
