Raja Gosnell (“Scooby Doo”) will direct the long-gestating film version of “The Smurfs”, according to Variety.
Sony’s live-action/animated film will be released in 3-D and 2-D formats on Dec. 17, 2010.
Jordan Kerner (“George of the Jungle”), who obtained the rights to the “Smurfs” property in 2002, produces. J. David Stem and David N. Weiss (“Shrek 2,†“Jimmy Neutron”) penned the script and Audrey Wells (“George of the Jungleâ€) is polishing; the logline’s being kept under wraps.
