While he says it’s doubtful it’ll be for another “Terminator†movie, Aussie actor Sam Worthington is dead-keen to work with “Salvation†director McG again. And might that ‘something else’ be ‘’Captain Nemo : 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea’’, which McG recently said he’d love Worthington to headline?
“I actually saw that online [that McG said he wanted me]â€, Worthington tells Moviehole. “Am I like ‘hey [McG], how come you’ve never talked to me about this?â€
Worthington admits he did tell McG it would be a cool role to play, despite knowing too well that Will Smith was the director’s first choice for Nemo at the time.
“The next thing you know it’s online – he’s saying ‘I want Sam I want Sam’ I started laughing. I might get into it a bit more and start writing online saying I want this job and this job and this job. We haven’t discussed it seriously. I wrote him an email and he wrote back saying ‘I don’t think you have these qualities, blah, blah..’ and I wrote back saying ‘it’s your job as a director to bring it out of me.’â€
Despite being McG’s first choice for the role of Nemo, Smith has reportedly turned down the offer, leaving the role wide-open for someone like Worthington to grab.
Disney’s “Nemo†is based on a classic science fiction novel by French writer Jules Verne published in 1870. It tells the story of Captain Nemo and his submarine Nautilus as seen from the perspective of Professor Pierre Aronnax.
