Galifianakis’s Dinner Date

“Hangover” thesp Zach Galifianakis is in talks to join Jay ‘Austin Powers’ Roach’s latest, the comedy “Dinner for Schmucks”, says Variety. The film would team the actor with Steve Carell, Paul Rudd and Lucy Punch.

Based on the 1998 French film written and directed by Francis Veber, “Schmucks” centers on the most pathetic guest to ever grace one man’s weekly dinner gathering. Galifianakis will portray an assistant manager of a mattress store who is dating Carell’s ex-wife.

Since hitting the big time with “The Hangover”, Galifianakis has only signed for one other film (he’s being careful – which is smart!) – the Todd Phillips-directed “Due Date”. That one focuses on an expectant dad and his unlikely travel companion racing cross-country in hopes of making it home for the birth of his first child. Robert Downey Jr will likely be the film’s second lead.
