Ashley’s Review : Zombieland

Ashley here – - and I’m in love with Jesse Eisenberg!

If you thought Michael Cera had the market cornered on being the sweet, geeky, awkward-looking-but-cute male lead, watch out for Eisenberg. In “Zombieland”, he’s Columbus, the survivor of a large-scale zombie attack on America, and he’s absolutely adorable!

But this isn’t “I Am Legend” – Columbus is joined by fellow survivors Tallahassee (scene-stealing Woody Harrelson), Wichita (Emma Stone) and Little Rock (Abigail Breslin). Tallahassee is a tough cowboy type that is a master at killing zombies in unique ways; Wichita and Little Rock scheme and rob to survive, a skill they developed before zombies took over; and Columbus is a tyro zombie killer that garner skills the more he kills (hey, rhymes!?) . The four unite, crossing the country to their death-ridden destinations, fighting (and laughing) along the way – killing oh-so-many zombies!

As a coffin dodgers flick, this one’s closer in tone to ”Shaun of the Dead” than ”The Evil Dead”. There’s a lot of sticky stuff in it, but making us laugh is still it’s main concern – no frightening ‘basement monsters’ here (though there’s an appearance by a big-name star that’ll catch a few by surprise!).

”Zombieland” is not blazing new territory in the horror or zombie genre (though the “fast” zombies may be something new?) but it is a ridiculously fun movie. If you’re a fan of zombie flicks in general, or Woody Harrelson (who is terrific!), you’ll likely walk out with a largish grin on ya’ mug.

Oh, did I mention Jesse Eisenberg is adorable!?
