Here’s the cast of Mad Max 4!

Alicia on deck,

Nicholas Hoult (“About A Boy”, “A Single Man”) has joined the cast of George Miller’s “Fury Road”, the fourth film in the “Mad Max” franchise, says The Hollywood Reporter. Details are being kept under wraps, but it’s understood Hoult will be playing a character named Nux, and he’s likely to be joined by Zoe Kravitz, whose character’s name will be Five Wives.

Aussie actors Teresa Palmer (originally set to play the villain in Miller’s abandoned “Justice League” project) and Adelaide Clemens (TVs “Love My Way”) also are in negotiations to join the cast, which already includes Charlize Theron and Tom Hardy.

The film is set a little while after “Mad Max Beyond the Thunderdome”, and we’re still waiting on confirmation on who will play Max Rockatansky, the character made famous by Mel Gibson – but word is, Hardy has the part.

We should hear more on the project soon with writer-director Miller planning to film “Fury Road” over Summer here in Australia, with Warner Bros releasing the movie sometime in 2011.

Meanwhile Mel Gibson, who, despite rumours he was to make an appearance as on old Max in “Fury Road” has decided not to cameo in the sequel, is set to reteam with “Lethal Weapon” writer Shane Black for Black’s sophomore directing effort (his first being the wonderful “Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang”), “Cold Warrior”. Deadline Hollywood Daily says Gibson would play “the role of a Cold War-era spy who helps a younger agent track a terrorist.” Black also recently wrote a treatment for a possible “Lethal Weapon 5”, which he may also ended up directing, but Gibson didn’t go for the idea of reprising Martin Riggs this late in the game. Maybe he’ll change his mind? Black’s now got some time, and has found an opportunity, to work on him!
