One for the ‘Yes, don’t we already know that?’ pile : Geoffrey Rush is confirmed to be reprising his role as ‘Barbossa’ for the fourth “Pirates of the Caribbean” movie.

Rush of course starred in the first and third “Pirates” films, and appeared briefly in the second.

As Variety points out, the Australian actor is “one of the few returning characters” in “Pirates of the Caribbean : On Stranger Tides” with Disney opting to leave Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom’s characters out of proceedings this time around.

“Pirates”, directed by Rob Marshall, and starring Johnny Depp, Ian McShane, Penelope Cruz and Stephen Graham, will be released (like everything else these days) to theaters in 3D.
