‘War Machine’ Don Cheadle and and Freida Pinto (”Slumdog Millionaire”) have been offered roles in director Rupert Wyatt’s “Planet of the Apes” prequel ”Rise of the Apes”. The poster for Zack Snyder’s “Legend of the Guardians : The Owls of Ga’Hoole” have been released. The film’s trailer, released a couple of days back, has also been released.

Warner Bros has announced a 25th Anniversary edition of “The Goonies” on Blu-ray and DVD for release in November. Extras will include ”a cast commentary with director Richard Donner and all seven actors, The Making of The Goonies documentary, Cyndi Lauper The Goonies ‘R Good “an exciting new board game, collectible storyboard prints, a 1985 souvenir magazine with captivating behind-the-scenes stories about the actual filming in Astoria, Oregon, including the production design that transformed Astoria into the “Goon Docks,” and a reprint of a 2009 article with updates of the entire cast, as well as producer Steven Spielberg and director Richard Donner.” (More…)

Steven Spielberg has anointed British newcomer Jeremy Irvine the star of his forthcoming “War Horse“. Wendy Crewson (“Air Force One”) has joined the cast of director Darrell Roodt’s “Winnie“, with Terrence Howard and Jennifer Hudson playing Nelson and Winnie Mandela, respectively. Crewson is playing Mary Botha, who becomes a social worker in South Africa after witnessing a brutal police assault on a black youth. After befriending the Mandelas during the fight against apartheid, Botha is subjected to phone-tapping, police harassment and house arrest. (More…)

Former “Sarah Connor Chronicles” star Thomas Dekker (also rumoured to be the frontrunner for the ‘Kevin Bacon role’ in “Footloose”) has joined the cast of HBO Films’ “Cinema Verite,” a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the groundbreaking 1970s documentary “An American Family.” (More…)

Vincent Gallo and Michael Madsen are attached to star in the indie feature “Loosies” for Verdi Corrente Prods. “Nurse Jackie” and “Twilight” actor Peter Facinelli, who wrote the screenplay, is already set to star. The official website for writer/director David Murphy’s “Not Another Not Another Movie“, a comedy starring Burt Reynolds, Chevy Chase, Vinnie Jones and Richard Tyson (playing himself), has gone live. The trailer for the film, which takes the piss out of those that make their bucks pumping out all these ‘spoof’ flicks (like “Epic Movie”, “Date Movie” and so on), can be found there.
