Jonathan Liebesman (“Texas Chainsaw Massacre : The Beginning”) will step in for Louis Letterier on the “Clash of the Titans” sequel, says The Hollywood Reporter.

Liebesman had been a contender for the past few months but the negative reaction to the original film, as well as budgetary concerns, put any talks on pause… until now.

Warners plan to right the wrongs of the 2010 film, shooting it in 3D (as opposed to converting the film to 3D in post) and having some of their most impressive penners write the thing – Greg Berlanti (“The Green Lantern”), Dan Mazeau (“The Flash”) and David Leslie Johnson (“Red Riding Hood”) wrote the treatment; Mazeau and Johnson are now writing the screenplay.

Sam Worthington and Gemma Arterton are among the actors expected to return for the second installment.

Liebesman’s next film is the Sony tentpole “Battle : Los Angeles”.
