Big-screen hardass Stephen Lang (“Avatar”, “The Hard Way”, “Guilty as Sin”) is in talks to join the new Stephen Spielberg-produced Dino-series “Terra Nova”, according to Nellie Andreeva.
The series, filming in Queensland shortly, stars Jason Mara (“Life on Mars”) as the patriarch of the Shannon family, an ordinary clan from 2149 when the planet is dying who are transported back 85 million years to prehistoric Earth where they join Terra Nova, a colony of humans with a second chance to build a civilization. Lang, whose career is back on track following his terrific turn in James Cameron’s “Avatar”, would be Frank Taylor, “the charismatic and ruthless leader of the Terra Nova settlement”.
While on “Terra Nova”, the site also reports that David Fury has vacated his passion as showrunner. “He was beloved by the producers on the show, but it just didn’t work out,” a source close to the series said.
“Terra Nova” will preview in May 2011 before a series premiere in the Fall.
