There’s still hope that Sean Connery may be back as Dr Henry Jones, if only because Harrison Ford’s championing the cause.
Connery, now retired, knocked back a chance to reprise Jones Sr (from “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade”) for 2008’s “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” (he escaped unscathed!) so it was written into the script that his character had passed on years before.
Ford hopes Connery agrees to play a part in “Indiana Jones and the….”… er, whatever the next “Indiana Jones” is called.
“Everyone is keen to get Sean back as Professor Henry Jones Senior. They wanted him back for the last movie”, a source tells The Daily Express.
“Everyone’s hopeful he’ll agree to reprise the role even in a small way. I hear Harrison Ford has been sending gifts to try to convince him. I think he could go for it. It would be on his terms.”
Few months back it was reported, by another anonymous source, that Connery’s character may have a part to play in the new film.
“Steven Spielberg has been working on a script with George Lucas and there is an element of the story that could see Sean returning. Anything is possible in these movies and if Sean wants to return he will become central to the new story.”
Assumingly, it’d be a flashback sequence…. if it comes off.
The fifth “Indiana Jones” movie, still in development but said to be inching forward now that George Lucas, Steven Spielberg and Ford have all agreed on the storyline, will see Shia LaBeouf reprising his role as Indy’s son, Mutt Williams.
