ID4 director down to a $5m dollar budget

Roland Emmerich (don’t get me started) will direct ”The Zone” a hush-hush project that takes it’s cue from the ‘found footage’ genre that “Blair Witch” (and more recently, “Cloverfield”) so masterfully helped repopulate a few years back.

“Independence Day” director Emmerich, who is use to working with a one hundred million dollar budget, will only have five million to do “The Zone”, says THR.

French writer-director Guillaume Tunzini penned the script and Loucas George is a producer on the pic, which will begin shooting mid-November. Sony will likely distribute.
