Looks like quitting radio was the best thing Hamish Blake could’ve done… Here’s a press release announcing Hamish’s next gig…

Comedians Hamish Blake (Hamish and Andy) and Bret McKenzie (Flight of the Concords) are confirmed to star in the comedy TWO LITTLE BOYS, which will begin filming in Southland, New Zealand in January 2011. The film will be directed by Robert Sarkies (Out of the Blue, Scarfies) and is based on the novel of the same name by Duncan Sarkies.

TWO LITTLE BOYS is an irreverent comedy about Nige (Bret McKenzie) and his recently estranged best mate Deano (Hamish Blake). The film follows Nige and Deano’s riotous misadventures as they struggle with their imploding long-term friendship which has been put under pressure by an unfortunate incident involving a hot meat pie, a ginger cat and the untimely death of a Scandinavian soccer star.

Director Robert Sarkies is delighted to be working with McKenzie and Blake. “I’m thrilled our script has been given the thumbs up by two of Australasia’s funniest guys. This says a lot about the project and how excited they are about working together.“ When asked about his upcoming screen collaboration with Blake, Mckenzie stated “I was initially unsure about working with Aussie comedian Hamish Blake, but it turns out he’s alright, for an Australian.”

Vicky Pope (Trouble is My Business) and Tim White (Out of the Blue, The Boys are Back, The Warrior’s Way) will produce. Vicky Pope commented “We’re thrilled to be bringing two of NZ and Australia’s hottest comedy talents together in this film. The story has everything – a crazy road trip, a love story, wild animals and even a bit of attempted murder. Audiences for this film are in for a very funny ride.”

Two Little Boys is being made with the support of the New Zealand Film Production Fund Trust (The Film Fund), NZ On Air, Southern Institute of Technology, Invercargill City Council, Community Trust of Southland, Invercargill Licensing Trust, Film Otago Southland, Fulcrum Media Finance and the NZ Film Commission. NZ Film, the sales arm of the NZFC, is handling world sales of the film. The film will be distributed in Australia and New Zealand by Hopscotch Films.
