Another day, another remake for Russell Brand.
Brand, who’ll soon be firing up Dudley Moore’s legion of fans with his “Arthur” redo (though, to be fair, I think this is actually going to half decent. The script is an absolute doozie and it’s different enough from the first to consider it it’s own beast), is circling a remake of Brit TV show “Rentaghost”.
The original series, broadcast on BBC, told of Fred Mumford, a recently deceased slacker who decides to make more of himself in the afterlife by starting up a temp agency for the dead.
Deadline says Warner Bros are planning a feature film in the vein of “Beetlejuice”.
I’m neither a lover or loather of Brand, but I will admit he does have ‘something’- just can’t work out how much of that charm and innocent goofiness is put on, and what’s “for reals”. Still, it’s early days – he’s really only done a couple of films, and only one of them (“Forgetting Sarah Marshall”) has been rock-solid decent.
