A-TEAM 2 IS UP TO YOU!

Joe Carnahan says the only way we’ll see an “A-Team” sequel is if the Blu-ray sells like hot cakes. “I think a large degree of it depends on how it does in this [DVD/Blu-ray] realm. We kind of fell victim to a marketing misstep in that there wasn’t necessarily an understanding of what the show was. We didn’t do an adequate enough job of telling people what the movie was, if you know what I mean.” (More…)

ZOOLANDER 2 : WHERE ARE YOU?

Owen Wilson first mentioned the possibility of a “Zoolander” sequel when I spoke to him in 2005 – for “Wedding Crashers”. Five years later, it’s still in the works. Wilson offered an update of the project to Cinema Blend suggesting that he and co-star Ben Stiller are currently mulling over story ideas.

LEVI NOT KEEN ON SUPERMAN, BUT MOORE IS ON LOIS

Zachary Levi (“Chuck”) told me today at the “Tangled” junket in Melbourne that, despite the rumours that popped up earlier in the year, he was never in contention to play Zack Snyder’s Superman. “I’ve already turned them down. Seems like kinda a stiff part”, joked the actor (Levi’s co-star Mandy Moore did express interest in the Lois Lane part though), adding that it’s not a role he’d really want to chase. Levi also told me he wouldn’t be involved in the next “Alvin & The Chipmunks” flick, due out next Christmas.

TRON REVOLUTIONS

“TRON Legacy” is barely out of cans, but that hasn’t stopped the pencil pushers at Disney from scribbling ‘sequel’ across a manilla folder. If the film hits big this weekend, it’s expected that the screenwriters will get to work on a follow-up quick smart. Hollywood Insider says that there’s half-a-dozen or so scenarios being tossed around for TRON 3, a couple of them involving the characters of Alan (Bruce Boxleitner) and Laura (Cindy Morgan, who isn’t in “TRON Legacy”) as well as Cillian Murphy’s shady character from the new pic. Apparently it’s not certain if Jeff Bridges will be back for another though (!) (More…)

TV CASTINGS

In TV News, Don Cheadle (“Ocean’s Eleven”) will star in the dark comedy series “House of Lies” about a cutthroat consultant who’ll stop at nothing to get his clients what they want; Virginia Madsen (“The Hot Spot”) will play the widow of a U.S senator on life-support series “The Event“; Mekhi Phifer (“8 Mile”) will play a CIA agent in the next season of “Torchwood“.

DAN, WHO YA GONNA CALL? BILL HADER!

Late last month Dan Aykroyd confirmed rumours that Bill Hader (“Forgetting Sarah Marshall”) was someone he was looking at for “Ghostbusters 3″. Thing is, Aykroyd is yet to pick up the phone and actually speak to Hader about it. ” Speaking to The Playlist, the “SNL” alum said, “I heard about it the same way you guys did! I went online and was like, whoa! Cool! All my friends were calling, ‘Are you gonna be in Ghostbusters 3?’ I obviously am very flattered, but I don’t know anything about it.”

AUSSIE SNOW WHITE IN THE ZONE

Aussie actress Bella Heathcoate (who yesterday was said to be one of the four young actresses being considered for the lead role in “Snow White and the Huntsman”) has signed on to play the lead in the film “Twylght Zones”. “Set in the 1960s, the story involves three high school friends who form a band inspired by the classic rock influences like the Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, The Beatles and Jimi Hendrix. The film follows their rise and the pitfalls of fame.” (More…)

RELIVING THOSE KING HITS

There’s cinematic remakes of a couple of old Stephen King horror classics in the works, “Firestarter”, which starred Drew Barrymore as a pyro on the run, and “Maximum Overdrive”, with Emilio Estevez doing battle with machines that have come ‘alive’ (More…)

BRUCE WILLIS TEAMING WITH A CGI HUMPHREY BOGART?

Bruce Willis is rumoured to be playing himself (he’s done that a couple of times already) in a new pic titled “Treasure of the Bruce Willis Madre”. Referencing Bogart’s “Treasure of the Sierra Madre”, the audacious project would tell of “a man who teams up with the ghost of Humphrey Bogart and together kidnap Hollywood actor Bruce Willis in an act of revenge.” (More…)
