Hathaway responds to Batman rumours

Caffeinated Clint December 21, 2010 Movie News

Anne Hathaway’s going to be in a comic book movie soonish – that’s a given.

The Golden Globe Nominee (Or is that “Golden Globes”? Sorry!) for “Love and Other Drugs” was all set to play the female villain of Sam Raimi’s “Spider-Man 4″, but it, of course fell apart and Sony opted to cut ties with Raimi and instead reboot the franchise. She was then said to be a leading contender to play Lois Lane in the upcoming Zack Snyder directed “Man of Steel” (and still might be a leading contender?), and more recently, a non-disclosed role in the upcoming “Dark Knight Rises” for director Christopher Nolan.

In an interview with Deadline today, Hathaway was asked about the rumours of a possible appointment with Batman. She doesn’t deny the rumours, which is interesting….

DEADLINE: There is a strong group of actresses in your age range who are mentioned for all the plum parts that come along. It’s going on right now as Chris Nolan gets started on a new Batman, and you’ve been mentioned as a candidate for that. Do you find yourself competing against certain actresses or any you measure yourself against?

HATHAWAY: Of course, but that has always been the case. There is always competition…I don’t know how to answer that question, it feels too revealing, somehow.

So which character would Hathaway play in “Dark Knight Rises”? There’s the possibility of Catwoman, of course, but there’s also rumours that Julie Madison, one of Bruce Wayne’s long-time squeezes, might feature in the film.

Other actresses are said to be in the running for a role in the Bat flick are Blake Lively (“Green Lantern”), Naomi Watts (“Fair Game”), Natalie Portman (“Black Swan”), Tanit Phoenix (“Death Race 2″) and Keira Knightley (“Pirates of the Caribbean”).
