Watts, Adams may replace Theron on J.Edgar

Charlize Theron is no longer in contention to play Helen Gandy in director Clint Eastwood’s “J.Edgar”. The actress took herself out of the race after signing to do Universal’s “Snow White and the Huntsman” instead.

Deadline reports that Eastwood is now considering both Naomi Watts (“Fair Game”) and Amy Adams (“The Fighter”) for the role.

Meantime “Gossip Girl” star Ed Westwick has joined the cast; he’ll play Agent Smith, an operative hired to write Hoover’s (Leonardo Di Caprio) biography.
