Yup, you heard correct, Jon Bon Jovi.
Bon Jovi isn’t actually a bad actor – check out “U-571”, “Pay it Forward”, or “Vampires : Los Muertos”. But to make his big screen return – he hasn’t done a film in five years – in Garry Marshall movie opposite the likes of Ashton Kutcher? That could only mean one thing, it’s not so much about acting anymore for Bon Jovi, as it is… mortgage repayments.
This “New Years Eve” movie is an all-star rom-com that tells “intertwining stories of a group of New Yorkers as they navigate their way through bittersweet drama and romance over the course of New Year’s Eve.” It’s basically “Valentine’s Day”… without Bradley Cooper.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Bon Jovi – in his first film role since 2006’s “Pucked” – is playing a successful rock star who runs into old flame Halle Berry at a party. Stretch.
“Saturday Night Live” alum Seth Myers, also new to the cast, will play a broke dad who wants his wife (Jessica Biel) to deliver the first baby of the year in order to win a $25,000 reward and finds himself in a heated competition.
The cast of this movie is amazing – Halle Berry, Jessica Biel, Abigail Breslin, Robert De Niro, Zac Efron, Ashton Kutcher, Lea Michele, Sarah Jessica Parker, Michelle Pfeiffer, Hilary Swank – but somehow, I don’t think the film’s going to be anywhere near as cool as the call sheet.
To Bon Jovi’s defense though, at least he hasn’t succumbed to an embarrassing judge role on a reality TV show like, er, the other ’80s rocker.
Time to pull out the vinyl of “Slippery when Wet” I think!
