Eve, Kruger, Pike, Anapau want a Man of Steel

Alice Eve (“She’s Out Of My League”), Diane Kruger (“Inglourious Basterds”) and Rosamund Pike (“Die Another Day”) are vying for the female lead in director Zack Snyder’s “Man of Steel”. The role, says Variety, is NOT for Daily Planet reporter Lois Lane. Tell me comic fans, what role could this be for? Supergirl, maybe? Surely not Lana Lang, right?

Warner Bros has apparently decided that they don’t want the female lead to overshadow the film’s titular hero so are chasing relative unknowns instead. I’m sure the rumoured contenders like Rachel McAdams and Kristen Stewart were in the mix at one time but obviously an order has come in from upstairs to “get someone cheaper”… or something.

Meantime ComicBookMovie chatted to “Black Swan” actress Kristina Anapau who hinted that she too may be up for an undisclosed role in the film. Asked whether or not she has met with anyone about the role, Anapau replies : “I’m not sure I’m at liberty to talk about that just now.”

The trade reports that a search for the villain is also underway.

But surely Lois Lane is in the movie, right!? What’s a “Superman” film without Lois!?… “Superboy”?
