You’ll recall a couple of weeks ago I ran some scoopish deets on the new “21 Jump Street” movie that Sony’s doing with Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum playing the lead roles. You can read more about that here but today, we’ve the name of an actor that’s going to filling the shoes of the captain.

According to Deadline, Ice Cube, a Sony fave (“Are We There Yet”? “XXX : The Next Level”), is going to be playing the role made famous by Steven Williams on the TV series – or close enough, he’s playing ‘Captain Dickson’, the copper in charge of the “Jump Street” operation.

There’s shouting, stomping about and even some dancing (end credits sequence should be amusing) required to play the role of Singer- thinking Cube can handle that.
