There’s a lot I love about the original “Arthur”, namely Dudley Moore, but I’m also not ashamed to admit that a big part of the film’s appeal is the super soundtrack. On that soundtrack, and within the film’s first few minutes, you’ll hear the terrific ‘Arthur’s Theme’ by Christopher Cross.
When it was announced that Warner Bros were to remake “Arthur” with Russell Brand in the lead role, my first question was “Why?” my second question was, “And what about Christopher Cross?”
Well, seems umpteen months later I’ve an answer to my latter query.
According to “Arthur” co-star Greta Gerwig, talking to MTV Movies, Cee-Lo might be doing a cover of ‘Arthur’s Theme’ for the April release.
Hmmmm, brave choice. Still, might turn out OK… but can it really be any match for the Christopher Cross, Burt Bacharach, Peter Allen and Carole Bayer Sager written Oscar Winning & Golden Globe Winning classic? Doubt it.
