The cast of Adam Shankman’s “Rock of Ages”- the feature-film adaption of the insanely popular Broadway musical that features a mix-tape’s worth of cool ’80s music from the likes of Poison and Journey – just keeps getting fatter and funkier!

In addition to Tom Cruise, Alec Baldwin, Julianne Hough (she’s in the new “Footloose” playing ‘Ariel’), Russell Brand and Mary J.Blige, the “Hairspray” helmer is interested in having Paul Giamatti and Amy Adams in the film.

Deadline says Giamatti, who we’ve all heard sing before in “Duets” (see below), would play the manager of the rock band headed by Stacee Jaxx (Tom Cruise). Adams, who gave her lungs a workout in Disney’s “Enchanted”, would be a journalist who falls for Jaxx.

I believe “Rock of Ages” opens in Australia shortly, so you guys downunder that fondly recall the ’80s, definitely want to see this one! It’s like time-traveling back to 1987!
