Watch four minutes from Green Lantern NOW!

Caffeinated Clint April 3, 2011 Movie News

Word from WonderCon is that the footage screened of “Green Lantern” blew everyone away.

“That means jack-all Clint”, I hear you say, “It’s an audience of comic-book geeks. They probably clapped the film version of Howard the Duck”.

True. Yes. We did clap for “Howard”. Um, where was I? Oh yes, but bare in mind not even the die-hard ‘Lantern’ fans have been convinced, until now, that the Martin Campbell directed movie will deliver – and if only because they haven’t seen enough footage from the film to warrant pressing the LIKE button over on the ‘Green Lantern’ Facebook page.

I guess the film’s lack of promotion (compared to the Marvel fare), coupled with some less-than-impressive CGI (in the trailer) and the fact that the dude that created TV soapie ‘Brothers & Sisters’ wrote the story hasn’t helped. Still, I personally have always had faith in this production – after all, it’s Martin Campbell behind the megaphone… he of the best Bonds in recent history, “Casino Royale” and “Goldeneye”. ‘If anything, “Green Lantern” would be a decent action flick with some amazing stunts’, I remember telling someone late last year.

Well, seems it’s even more than that – those that viewed the footage yesterday, including the ‘I don’t really want to be here but my website pays me $15 a story so I’m here’ (hello Alicia!) online reporters, are yahooing about how great the footage is. Seems Campbell, er, Warner Bros really did save the best ‘tease’ for last.

Oh, and did I mention Warner Bros has – upon the footage going down so well in San Francisco – now released 4-minutes of footage online? Here it is.

Let me know what you think in the comments section below.
