Last year Alicia reported that Universal were gearing up to do a second sequel to the Jason Statham starrer “Death Race” (remake). Today, we’ve more details on the project – which is on the fasttrack over at Universal Home Entertainment.

Paul W.S Anderson has written the screenplay which takes place after the events of “Death Race 2″. The new film will fix on off-road racing in the Mexican desert. Yep, instead of screeching around the sharp turns of the prison grid, drivers will be tearing around dusty mountains.

It’s expected that quite a few of the cast members from the last film – including Danny Trejo and Tanit Phoenix – would reprise their roles for the new film.
