It’s The Muppets trailer with our very special guest star, Jason Segel!

After a couple of amusing teasers, Disney has finally unveiled the full-length trailer for “The Muppets” starring Jason Segel, Amy Adams and Chris Cooper.

We all grew up with The Muppets – be it on Friday night’s “The Muppet Show” or the various feature films (the first few being the best) – so Jim Henson’s assorted assemblage of cotton and thread need no introduction, but I think it’s safe to say with TV funnyman Jason Segel on scripting and starring duties “The Muppets” will be quite different to the films we’ve got there stored away on chewed-up old VHS tapes. Expect slightly edgier humour, some wicked cameos (the script apparently had cameos written in from everyone from George Clooney to Matt Damon and Mel Brooks) and – if this trailer is anything to go by – some Starship! (that’s music, kids).

On vacation in Los Angeles, Walter, the world’s biggest Muppet fan, and his friends Gary (Jason Segel) and Mary (Amy Adams) from Smalltown, USA, discover the nefarious plan of oilman Tex Richman (Chris Cooper) to raze the Muppet Theater and drill for the oil recently discovered beneath the Muppets’ former stomping grounds. To stage The Greatest Muppet Telethon Ever and raise the $10 million needed to save the theater, Walter, Mary and Gary help Kermit reunite the Muppets, who have all gone their separate ways: Fozzie now performs with a Reno casino tribute band called the Moopets, Miss Piggy is a plus-size fashion editor at Vogue Paris, Animal is in a Santa Barbara clinic for anger management, and Gonzo is a high-powered plumbing magnate.

“The Muppets”, also featuring Zach Galifianakis (“The Hangover”), Emily Blunt (“Young Victoria”), Ed Helms (“The Hangover”), Jack Black (“School of Rock”) and Katy Perry, hits cinemas in the states this November and in January in Australia.

Alicia Malone is a Film Reporter, TV Host, Producer, Writer, Editor, and all around movie geek. She developed her taste for film at a young age, spending many a heady Friday night pajama-clad at the video store, picking out her 7 films for 7 days for $7. Bargain! While at school she created a Film Club, electing herself President. Eventually the School Principal asked her not to get up in assembly to talk about movies anymore.
