Legendary Pictures has hired popular superhero and comic book writer David Goyer to pen the script for the upcoming remake of “Godzilla”.

Deadline says Goyer will be the fresh eyes to re-write the draft script already in the can by David Callaham, with the finished product earmarked for a 2013 release.

Goyer, of course, has notched up an impressive portfolio of box office hits- “The Dark Knight” franchise, the “Blade” series and “Batman Begins”, so he’s hopefully the right man to re-ignite the “Godzilla” brand.

Gareth Edwards will direct the flick.

What do you reckon? Can Goyer give  “Godzilla” the monster status it deserves?
